On the 5th of September 2018, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), together with its partner EVBN, co-organised an annual Dialogue with Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Customs.
At the conference, the HCMC Customs Department updated European enterprises about recent changes to customs policies and procedures. Concerns and questions from businesses were also addressed by Heads of Units at the HCMC Customs Department.
After more than 4 hours of dialogue, nearly 80 questions had been addressed by the HCMC Customs Department. Specific guidance was given on issues including: CIC fee, D/O fee, container cleaning fees, Customs value, re-processing, leasing a third party for processing, and import procedures for chemicals.
Concluding the conference, Director of the HCMC Customs Department, Dinh Ngoc Thang, directed his teams to provide further information to enterprises to help them better understand and comply with regulations, in particular Decree 59 and Circular 39.
Nicolas Audier, Co-Chairman of EuroCham, said that Customs and the European business community have created a closer relationship through cooperation in training and dialogue with enterprises. Customs optimisation is one of the factors promoting better trade relations for European businesses, and this conference shows how, working together, Vietnamese authorities and the European business community can achieve this.
