EuroCham in Central Vietnam Q3: Networking and Danang Hi-tech Park Visit

Danang, 28-29 September – EuroCham marked the end of the third quarter of 2018 with its quarterly networking (28 September) and a field trip to the Danang Hi-tech Park (29 September), kindly hosted by Investment Promotion Agency of Danang (IPA Danang). Beyond these flagship activities, the activity plan for these two days also included individual meetings with members and an update meeting with IPA Danang, where EuroCham was represented by Deputy Director Mr. Joaquim Torrinha and EuroCham Central Vietnam (ECV) Delegate Mr. Jose Sanchez-Barroso.

The meeting was dedicated to future cooperation between the two entities, namely in establishing a series of sectoral events in 2019 and in regards to the Agency's support to the third edition of the ECV Business Forum. This annual event, launched by EuroCham in 2016, has been successfuly creating a dialogue between the Governments of Danang, Quang Nam and Thua-Tien Hue and the central region's private sector. It is scheduled to take place in the coming 23 November in Danang.

The EuroCham Q3 Networking event was held at the Furama Resort, EuroCham's "home" in the city and where since earlier this year the Chamber hosts the large majority of its local events. This networking event takes place every three months and aims to gather the local business community, including EuroCham members and non-members. Its other purpose is to create a regular connection between business professionals and EuroCham itself. In every event, EuroCham delivers an update of its recent activities and is usualy represented by EuroCham Secretariat heads and Executive Committee representatives, in addition to the ECV Delegates. 

Following the tradition since August 2016, the event was once again successful in creating an occasion whereby all those present could make new contacts, exchange information, and meet friends and colleagues. The ECV Networking is one of the few regular events of its kind in Central Vietnam and usually closes the third month of the Chamber's quarterly activities in the region. This time, it was attended by more than 25 participants, many of them longstanding EuroCham members, but also newcomers and interested professionals who come together for a lively and successful exchange. EuroCham's first Executive Director (1998-2000) and honorary member Mr. Rami Viitainiemi, today Senior Partner at Red Orange Advisory, was among the participants.

On 29 September, EuroCham organised a field trip to the Danang Hi-tech Park, kindly hosted by IPA Danang. EuroCham members and non-members joined the group and were welcomed by some of the Park's Management Board representatives upon arrival. In an introductory meeting, the EuroCham delegation learned about the Park's goals, incentives for industrial tenants and service providers, and potential for prospective companies and investors looking to Danang as their next business destination. The meeting was followed by a field visit around the park, passing by already functioning units, projects in progress and completed infrastructure.

The EuroCham delegation visited the Danang Hi-tech Park and met with its Vice President Mr. Doan Ngoc Hung Anh and heads of department who presented the Park's plans and goals for the near future
