EuroCham’s collaborative meetings with the EU Ambassador-Designate Julien Guerrier

EuroCham Vietnam welcomed His Excellency Julien Guerrier, the European Union Ambassador-Designate to Vietnam, with a series of productive working meetings held from September 20 to 22, 2023. These engagements aimed to reinforce cooperation and align priorities between EuroCham and the EU Ambassador-Designate.

On Thursday, September 21, EuroCham Chairman Gabor Fluit and the Board of Directors initiated discussions with Ambassador-Designate Julien Guerrier, emphasizing the shared commitment to driving a sustainable and green transition.

Both parties recognized the importance of effectively implementing the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) as a cornerstone for realizing their shared vision of a green and sustainable economy. Key focal points included initiatives such as the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), the European Green Deal, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and the pursuit of carbon neutrality.

These discussions underscored the commitment to close collaboration between EuroCham and the EU Ambassador-Designate, setting the stage for Team Europe’s impactful initiatives in Vietnam’s business landscape.

On Friday, September 22nd in Ho Chi Minh City, EuroCham’s Sector Committees convened with His Excellency Julien Guerrier, EU Ambassador-Designate, at Deutsche Haus in Ho Chi Minh City. The meeting aimed to provide valuable insights and share EuroCham’s advocacy efforts across various themes such as trade and economy, consumption, health, and sustainability.

The agenda featured introductions by EuroCham Vice-Chair Jean-Jacques Bouflet and Ambassador Guerrier, presentations from 19 Sector Committee representatives, interactive feedback, and discussion on the next steps. This meeting allowed EuroCham’s Sector Committees Chairs and representatives to engage directly with Ambassador Julien Guerrier, ensuring that EuroCham’s advocacy aligns with the European Union’s goals and strategies for Vietnam.
