Danang: EuroCham and Central Vietnam Chapter hosted a CEO Talk and Networking

EuroCham's Central Vietnam (ECV) Chapter, together with Regus, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), and Red Apron; organised another successful event in Danang. The CEO Talk featured top business leaders in Vietnam, discussing particular topics relevant to business and the current conditions of the Vietnamese and global markets. Attended by around 30 participants and EuroCham members, the Talk took place at Waterfront, a premium venue in the centre of Danang with the Han river as a background.

This event was opened by Joaquim Torrinha, EuroCham Deputy Director, who introduced EuroCham's action in Central Vietnam, giving then way to the first speaker of the day: Mr. Hoang Thy Duong, ECV Delegate and KPMG's Head of International Tax Services and of its Danang Office. Mr. Duong talked about Tax Incentives for business in Central Vietnam, touching upon key current affairs such as the new SME Support Law, Resolution 35 and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, focusing on what this may signify for tax and for business.

Mr. Duong was followed by a very special guest whom EuroCham expressed high honour to have hosted: Mr. Michael Izza, CEO of the ICAEW, headquartered in the UK. Currently on a business trip to ICAEW's offices in the region, Mr. Izza kindly agreed to speak at this event in Danang, having focused on the importance of chartered accountants as not only finance managers but also as policy advisors, stressing the importance of the profession in the dialogue with regulators. Mr. Izza highlighted several examples of ICAEW's advocacy and capacity-buliding work, namely in relation to promoting smart policy and measures in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Finally, a reference to Brexit and the future of EU, UK and Vietnam relations in that context was also raised.

Michael Izza, CEO of ICAEW currently visiting Vietnam, honoured this event with his presentation

Keynote presentations were completed with the slot of Mr. Lars Wittig, Regus Country Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines. Also visiting Danang, Mr. Wittig's made a very important contribution, focusing his presentation on topics which are key to current human human resources management, namely on the retention of "millenial" employees in a new societal context. In his energetic delivery to which the audience responded in the same manner, Mr. Wittig touched upon important new challenges of today's business management, mentioning also the need to create "mobile" work conditions and smart working spaces, adapted to the new digital era and a completely new perspective coming from the new generations.

The CEO Talk was closed with a panel discussion with all three speakers moderated by Mr. Torrinha, counting on relevant questions and answers from the audience and speakers.

After this section of the event, the day afternoon followed with a lively networking session, whereby members and other participants had the opportunity to exchange and discusss in an informal environment. Another successful ECV event, organised with the support of the Chamber's local ECV Delegates: Ms. Hoa Ly Bui, Mr. Hoang Thuy Duong and Mr. Jose Sanchez-Barroso.
