Diageo Vietnam handovers computers to poor students in Ninh Thuan

Diageo Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Diageo Vietnam) in collaboration with Ninh Thuan Province Department of Education and Training has donated 108 used computers (including 103 laptops and 5 desktops) for students from schools in the province on occasion of the new school year 2017-2018.
Shivam Misra, General Manager of Diageo Vietnam, said the computers would be installed at the schools and training centers in the province with an aim to help students and teachers here access more tools to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
“We look forward to contributing to the quality of education in the local communities where we operate by enabling children to interact with technology, improve knowledge, remove barriers and grasp opportunities to have a brighter future,” Misra said.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Linh, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan Province Department of Education and Training, said that after receiving this donation from Diageo, the Department will start coordinating with schools and training centers in the province to assemble computers, enabling students to study well. “We have worked with Diageo to examine the used computers to make sure that they still work well before being handled over to the units. We look forward to continuing to receive supports from the business community in improving the quality of teaching and learning here,” he said.
Previously, Diageo had also donated hundreds of used computers to help many students, students and people with disabilities throughout the country who for the first time have their own computers for working and studying.
Considering community support activities as part of the company’s operation strategy, Diageo Vietnam has implemented a number of charity projects. . In addition to the used computer donation project, the company has run the “Water of Life” program, helping thousands of families and students in schools in remote areas of Ninh Thuan have access to clean water since 2011.

Moreover, Diageo Vietnam strongly supports efforts to empower women via carrying out the community investment project namely “Plan W – Empowering women through learning”.
