On 26 November 2024, the Government Office hosted a high-level meeting on administrative procedure reform, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh. Organised by the Administrative Procedure Reform Working Group (ACAPR), the session brought together leaders from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Information and Communication, and National Defense, as well as representatives from eight localities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and Tay Ninh.
EuroCham Vietnam was represented by Vice Chairman in charge of External Relations Minh Nguyen and Head of the Hanoi Office Van Nguyen, who contributed to this pivotal discussion on regulatory streamlining and cross-sector collaboration.
Deputy Prime Minister Binh underscored the importance of simplifying administrative procedures, emphasising thorough regulatory control from policy design to implementation. The directive called for greater scrutiny of the impact of new regulations and revisiting existing frameworks to eliminate redundancies and enhance efficiency.
EuroCham highlighted three critical recommendations:
- To the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Update Decision 06/2020/QD-TTg to facilitate smoother organisation and management of international conferences in Vietnam.
- To the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Implement a visa exemption policy for EU member countries to boost trade, tourism, and investment.
- To the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department: Streamline customs procedures at international airports to ensure seamless operations for businesses and travellers.
This engagement reflects EuroCham’s commitment to fostering a more efficient regulatory environment that supports foreign investment and enhances Vietnam’s business climate.
