On Wednesday, 17th January 2024, EuroCham and BritCham, in collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank organized a business luncheon named “Economic Outlook 2024” at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. At this luncheon, we had an insightful discussion on the global economy, Vietnam’s economic, monetary policy, and the outlook for 2024.
EuroCham and BritCham had the honor of welcoming the following esteemed speakers, panelists and moderator:
- Edward Lee – Chief Economist, ASEAN & South Asia, Standard Chartered Bank
- Tim Leelahaphan – Economist, Thailand & Vietnam, Standard Chartered Bank
- Nguyen Anh Duong – Director Department for General Economic Issues and Integration Studies of Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM)
- Vo Tri Thanh – Economist, Former Deputy Director of Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), Member of National Financial and Monetary Advisory Council
- Claudia Anselmi – Vice Chair, EuroCham
Besides, EuroCham and BritCham also welcomed: H.E. Mr. Bernd Lange – Chair of INTA Committee of the European Parliament and H.E. Mr. Julien Guerrier – Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam. More than 90 distinguished participants were joining us at the luncheon.
The event was opened by Ms. Michele Wee – CEO, Standard Chartered Bank and then followed with the presentation of Mr. Edward Lee and Mr. Tim Leelahaphan.
The 2 presentations covered topics such as global inflation and rates rising again, geopolitical tensions, a quick tour of ASEAN business outlook for next year, Vietnam macroeconomic forecasts in 2024, etc. After that, we had a fruitful panel discussion and Q&A with a lot of questions for the 4 speakers and panelists, including: Vietnamese policy, administrative burdens, the way to sustainable development, etc.
The event was closed by H.E. Mr. Bernd Lange – Chair of INTA Committee of the European Parliament.
