On 17 December 2024, EuroCham European Standards Medicines (ESM) Sector Committee’s Head of Advocacy Mrs. Vo Thi Hanh attended a conference to disseminate the amended Law on Pharmacy and gather feedback on its draft implementation decree. The conference was organised by the Ministry of Health in Ha Long, Quang Ninh.
At the conference, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen emphasised how the amended law addresses challenges encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic and aims to ensure a sufficient and affordable supply of quality medicines for the public.
Key revisions to the Law on Pharmacy include:
- Streamlining administrative procedures to facilitate business operations
- Promoting decentralization to enhance accountability
- Introducing policies to attract investment in pharmaceutical research and production.
The law also establishes a legal framework for new business models, such as pharmacy chains and online pharmaceutical commerce, while enhancing price management to ensure reasonable drug costs.
