On 7 September, EuroCham Vietnam actively participated in a pivotal event focusing on foreign investment and technology transfer, organized by Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) at the Convention Center in Hanoi.
The seminar was co-chaired by Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong of MPI and Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh of MOST. This seminar comes as part of a comprehensive review of 35 years of foreign investment in Vietnam, directed by the Prime Minister in Dispatch No. 3499/VPCP-QHQT dated May 17, 2023. The overarching goal is to evaluate and suggest solutions to enhance the effectiveness of foreign investment in the country’s evolving landscape.
Mr. Minh Nguyen, EuroCham Vice Chairman, and Ms. Nguyen Cam Van, Head of Hanoi Office cum External Relations, attended the seminar on behalf of EuroCham. They joined the discussions focusing on reviewing current policies and assessing the situation of high-tech foreign investment and technology transfers alongside Vietnamese government representatives.
Mr. Minh Nguyen, EuroCham Vice Chairman, gave a speech highlighting trends, the current situation, and proposals for attracting more foreign investment in high-technology and promoting technology transfer in Vietnam. He provided insights into global tech investment patterns and opportunities for Vietnam to capture more investments. Mr. Minh also suggested ways Vietnam could further incentivize tech transfers from foreign companies to build local capabilities.
During the meeting, a EuroCham Corporate Partner Bosch, also shared insights on the current situation and suggestions for improving the investment process in high technology and technology transfer in Vietnam.
Participants identified difficulties and proposed solutions for more effective implementation going forward. The outcomes of this seminar will play a pivotal role in shaping the forthcoming 35-year Foreign Investment Summary Report, to be presented to the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
