On 24 July 2025, EuroCham, represented by Mr. Nguyen Hong Uy – Head of the Technical Working Group of the Nutritional Foods Group (NFG), participated in a consultation meeting hosted by the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) under the Ministry of Health (MOH). The meeting focused on the Government’s draft resolution regulating the declaration and registration of food products.
Led by Mr. Do Trung Hung – Director General of MOH’s Legal Department, and Mr. Chu Quoc Thinh –Deputy Director General of VFA, the session brought together testing agencies, international business chambers including EuroCham and AmCham, and representatives from the pharmaceutical, nutrition, and medical sectors.
The discussion centered on two key points:
(1) updates on progress replacing existing decrees, and
(2) soliciting business feedback to resolve regulatory misalignments with the Food Safety Law and clarify complex procedures.
Speaking on behalf of EuroCham, Mr. Uy stressed the need to shift focus towards post-market surveillance to address critical issues such as counterfeit goods, substandard food products, and poisoning risks. He also raised concerns about overlapping content across the draft resolution, the amendment to the Food Safety Law, and Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, warning that this could lead to unnecessary administrative burdens and diverge from international norms without effectively tackling Vietnam’s food safety priorities.
EuroCham will continue to engage with authorities to ensure the regulatory framework supports both public health protection and a streamlined business environment.
