On 7 November 2024, EuroCham Vietnam was honoured to contribute to the Vietnam-EU Cooperation Forum 2024, where our Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Thang delivered essential insights on sustainable investment opportunities and the challenges facing European businesses in Vietnam. His address, delivered alongside prominent figures such as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and EU Ambassador Julien Guerrier, highlighted the crucial role of collaboration in building a greener, more sustainable future for Vietnam.
The Vietnam-EU Cooperation Forum 2024 provided a high-level platform for dialogues on economic and sustainable development initiatives between Vietnam and the EU, with EuroCham Vietnam playing a key role. Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Thang’s speech underscored the necessity of advancing sustainable investment frameworks and outlined challenges impacting European businesses in Vietnam, such as regulatory clarity and sustainable financing pathways. Thang emphasised EuroCham’s commitment to supporting Vietnam’s net-zero goals and its collaboration with government bodies to promote green investment and technological advancement.
Joined by esteemed leaders including Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and EU Ambassador Julien Guerrier, Vice Chairman Thang’s remarks positioned EuroCham among the forum’s central voices advocating for actionable steps toward a sustainable economic transformation. Deputy Minister Long spoke to Vietnam’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the EU, particularly through initiatives aligned with the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), which reinforces Vietnam’s COP26 climate goals. Ambassador Guerrier echoed this sentiment, highlighting the EU’s role in supporting Vietnam’s energy transition and fostering technology and knowledge exchange between the two regions.
The forum also featured discussions on enhancing trade and investment policies, accelerating green finance, and addressing pressing environmental challenges. EuroCham’s participation underscored the Chamber’s dedication to creating a supportive environment for European investors in Vietnam and advancing sustainable business practices.
