EuroCham Discusses Upcoming High-level Visits with EU Delegation

On Tuesday, 11 March, EuroCham met with the EU Delegation to discuss upcoming high-level visits and solidifying key topics such as the EVFTA implementation. Representing the EU Delegation to Vietnam were Mr. Ulrich Weigl – Head of Trade, Mr. Laurent Lourdais – Deputy Head of Trade, and Mr. Ky-Anh Le – Economic and Trade Specialist. 

Attending on behalf of EuroCham were Mr. Jean-Jacques Bouflet – Vice-Chairman in charge of Advocacy, Mrs. Delphine Rousselet – Excecutive Director, Mrs. Van Nguyen – Head of EuroCham’s Hanoi Office cum External Relations Manager, Mrs. Pauline Dutertre – Head of Marketing & Communications, and Mrs. Diep Truong – Advocacy Manager.  

Preparing for the visit of EU Commission Executive Vice President and Trade Commissioner  

EuroCham and EU Delegation discussed the preparation for the potential upcoming visit of Executive Vice President and Trade Commissioner Maroš Sefčovič to Vietnam. Both parties explored how EuroCham can support his visit and ensure meaningful engagement with European businesses in Vietnam and relevant stakeholders.  

Strengthening EU – Vietnam Relations with EuroCham’s  Brussels Trip 

Additionally, we discussed EuroCham’s next mission to Brussels from 24-26 March, where EuroCham will bring key concerns from the European business community in Vietnam to EU policymakers. This includes addressing trade and investment challenges, strengthening economic ties, and reinforcing the importance of the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in fostering business cooperation. 

The meeting also covered challenges in implementation of the EVFTA, particularly in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, and wine & spirits. EuroCham and EU Delegation highlighted existing trade barriers and explored ways to enhance the agreement’s effectiveness to further facilitate trade between the EU and Vietnam. 

EuroCham Vietnam commits to fostering EU – Vietnam relations and contributing to a prosperous and sustainable business community in Vietnam.
