On Wednesday, 26 March, 2025, EuroCham participated in a Consultation Workshop on the Draft Decree Amending and Supplementing Certain Provisions of Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, which outlines the implementation of the Law on Food Safety. The workshop was hosted by the Vietnam Food Safety Authority (VFA) – Ministry of Health.
Representing EuroCham at the workshop were Mrs. Hà Thị Kim Dung – Member of the Nutrition & Functional Foods Sector Committee (NFGSC) and Ms. Nguyễn Hoàng Thu Hà – Member of the Wine, Spirits & Soft Drinks Sector Committee (WSSC).
The workshop brought together key regulatory and industry stakeholders, including: Mr. Nguyễn Hùng Long, Mr. Đỗ Hữu Tuấn, and Mr. Chu Quốc Thịnh – Deputy Directors General of the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA). The workshop also welcomed representatives from the Legal Department of VCCI, Vietnam Association of Functional Foods, Vietnam Dairy Association, AmCham, VASEP, and various businesses.
Key Discussions and Recommendations
During the workshop, EuroCham’s NFG representative presented key comments and recommendations on the revision of Decree 15/2018 related to food registration. The discussion focused on several critical areas:
- Transitional provisions for the revised decree
- Aligning definitions of infants and children with Codex standards
- Strengthening decentralization and post-market control to enhance quality oversight and improve the regulation of functional foods
The Drafting Committee engaged in open dialogue, carefully considering these proposals to ensure the new decree reduces administrative burdens while maintaining high food safety standards.
Next Steps
Following this consultation, the revised decree will be submitted to the Government for final review and approval before issuance.
