EuroCham & GIZ Collaborate to Empower Vietnam’s Workforce for a Sustainable Future

On 18 November 2024, EuroCham Vietnam’s Human Resources & Training Sector Committee (HR&T SC) welcomed representatives from GIZ at the EuroCham Ho Chi Minh City office to discuss an important upcoming collaboration. The meeting focused on GIZ’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program, scheduled to launch in 2025, which aims to reshape Vietnam’s vocational training landscape through a unique partnership with government, private sector, and educational institutions.

Representatives for GIZ’s TVET Program in Vietnam, including Ms. Beate Dippmar, Programme Director, and Mr. Ralf Hill, Component Manager, outlined the key mission, emphasising the need to build a skilled workforce aligned with sustainable practices. The program aims to prepare Vietnam’s labour market for the future by equipping workers with essential skills for green and sustainable industries, fostering a workforce that meets the demands of both industry growth and the global shift toward ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.

During the meeting, HR&T SC Co-Chairmen Mr. Trung Khuat and Mr. William Badger identified two key areas where EuroCham can support this initiative: policy advocacy with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to drive essential reforms in TVET, and public awareness campaigns that highlight vocational training as a crucial driver of sustainable development.

This collaboration showcases EuroCham’s role in facilitating vital conversations that benefit the entire community. By bridging the gap between policy, education, and business, EuroCham and our sector committees are advocating for a better, stronger Vietnam—one that thrives through sustainable growth and responsible business practices.
