On Wednesday, 26 June, EuroCham Vietnam Vice-Chair Thang Nguyen emphasised the critical role of trade facilitation in strengthening European Union-Vietnam economic ties at the Customs-Business Dialogue Conference 2024, organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department. The event, led by Director of the HCMC Customs Department, Nguyen Hoang Tuan, brought together key stakeholders to discuss improvements in customs procedures and regulatory practices.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Thang praised the recent collaboration between EuroCham Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department. “The strides made in improving customs procedures, enhancing transparency, and ensuring efficient regulatory practices have significantly contributed to the ease of doing business in Vietnam,” he stated.
The conference comes at a crucial time as both parties seek to maximise the benefits of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. Mr. Thang emphasised that effective customs procedures are vital in realising the full potential of this agreement, which has opened new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
Mr. Thang also commended the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department for its proactive engagement with the business community, stating that such dialogue platforms are invaluable for understanding diverse perspectives and working towards common solutions.
Looking ahead, Mr. Thang reaffirmed EuroCham’s commitment to supporting trade facilitation initiatives and expressed readiness to collaborate with customs authorities to achieve mutual goals.
