Mr. Denis Brunetti, Co-Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and President of Ericsson Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, attended the event. Mr. Brunetti delivered key messages related to the "Vietnam Digitalisation Evolution Survey: Awareness of the Business Community and Impacts of the Industry 4.0".
In his speech, Mr. Brunetti emphisised the fundamental role ICT, and in particular mobility and the internet (Mobile Internet), has played in helping Vietnam leapfrog other nations in accelerating its socioeconomic development, with an average of 6.15% GDP growth since 2000. The next challenge is to ensure this growth is inclusive, and ICT will again play a lead role as the Government aims to digitally transform many industries, including Manufacturing (Industry 4.0), to make them more efficient and competitive. Moreover, Mr. Brunetti described how a key part of this is education (academic and vocational training), since Vietnam needs to upskill its current and future labour force for the jobs of the future. Another key aspect was raised at the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) mid-term meeting, and relates to the need to better link Foreign-Direct-Invested (FDI) companies with local Vietnamese enterprises, increasing the level of technology transfer. Mr. Brunetti said that ICT plays a key role, and sits in the middle of addressing all of the sustainable development goals, a sentiment with which the Prime Minister also agrees.
