EuroCham Speaks at the Vietnam – International Business & Investment Connect Forum 2025

At the Vietnam – International Business & Investment Connect Forum 2025, organised by Vietrade and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on 13 AugustMr Minh Nguyen, Vice-Chair of EuroCham Vietnam, highlighted the enduring strength of Vietnam–EU relations and the opportunities ahead in an evolving global trade environment. The event gathered senior leaders including Mr Vũ Bá Phú, Director General of Vietrade; Mr Đỗ Xuân Thủy, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Lào Cai Province; and Mr Vũ Ngoạn Hợp, Chairman of the Vietnam Exhibition & Convention Association, alongside other distinguished national and international representatives. 

In his remarks, Vice Chair Minh emphasised the importance of partnership, adaptability, and shared vision in the context of a rapidly changing global trade environment. He highlighted the long-standing and trusted economic ties between Vietnam and Europe, noting the EU’s position as Vietnam’s second-largest export market (with bilateral trade reaching nearly $14 billion in Q1 2025) and a key partner in trade, investment, and sustainable growth. 

Key points from the address included: 

  • Global trade dynamics: Updates on recent tariff developments between the US, EU, and Vietnam, and their implications for manufacturing, supply chains, and rules of origin. 
  • EU–Vietnam relations: Recognition of the 35 years of diplomatic ties and five years of the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which has driven nearly $300 billion in trade. 
  • Vietnam’s growth trajectory: Opportunities and priorities for attracting more foreign investment, including infrastructure development, streamlined work permit processes, and regulatory stability. 
  • Sustainability commitments: Collaboration under initiatives such as the European Green Deal, EUDR, CBAM, and JETP, with €612 million in green projects currently under review in Vietnam.  

Vice Chair Minh also invited attendees to join EuroCham’s Green Economy Forum on 27 November in Hanoi, aimed at advancing the green transition and fostering sustainable growth. 

EuroCham remains committed to supporting Vietnam’s economic transformation and deepening cooperation between Vietnamese and European partners for a resilient, sustainable future.
