Hanoi, July 19 – EuroCham attended an event celebrating 50th Anniversary of ASEAN Formation and Development. This conference was part of a series of exhibitions and exchanges entitled "50 years of ASEAN: ASEAN Economic Community and opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises". The series was co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, the ASEAN Secretariat, the World & Vietnam Newspaper and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).
The event was attended by more than 400 participants, including the Secretary General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh; the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung; Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Vu Quang Minh; Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, President of Economic Research Institute for ASEAN & East Asia; as well as several guests from central ministries and agencies, think-tanks and the business community in Vietnam.
The seminar was divided into two sessions. In Session 1, presenters provided an overview on the ASEAN Economic Community and its impact on the Vietnamese economy, referring both to opportunities and challenges. In addition, the speakers discussed the Vietnamese Government's efforts to embrace the integration dynamics brought about by the AEC. The second Session was dedicated to discussing on how Vietnamese businesses can grasp the opportunities offered by the AEC, with having focused on creativity, entrepreneurialism and business innovation.
