On 13 December 2024, Head of EuroCham Nutritional Foods Group (NFG)’s Technical Working Group – Mr. Nguyen Hong Uy, along with other representatives, attended the workshop on “Inadequacies in the implementation of the Law on Product Quality and the Law on Technical Standards and Regulations in the field of production and trading of agricultural and food products” in Hanoi.
Addressing Chairman of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) – Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Animal Husbandry Association – Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, and representatives from other key organisations in the field, Mr. Nguyen Hong Uy supported shared viewpoints and provided constructive feedback on two key topics:
𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
- Emphasising the need for clarification of key terms – “basic characteristics of standards” & “enterprise standards (TCCS)”.
- Highlighting shortcomings in the current law & suggesting incorporation of them into the proposed amendments.
𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:
- Recommending clearer provisions on the self-declaration of product standards.
- Opposing mandatory requirements for barcodes, QR codes, and traceability codes in the law to alleviate administrative burden.
- Exempting export goods and imported raw materials for manufacturing of export goods from requirements applicable to domestically circulated goods in Vietnam.
