EY Vietnam leader as IRM global ambassador for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos

EY Vietnam is proud to have a Partner – Mr Saman Bandara – appointed the global ambassador for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos by Institute of Risk Management (IRM).

Saman Bandara, Partner, Head of Insurance, Forensics and IT Risk & Analytics at EY Vietnam, completed the Institute of Risk Management Financial Services Certificate a few years ago and has worked with EY for over 11 years. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants in England and a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants in Sri Lanka. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Global Advisory Council of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

“The Indochina region is undoubtedly one of the most promising regions in the world in terms of the opportunities for businesses; however, in terms of management of risk there is a long journey to go compared to other developed markets. Development and appreciation of proper risk management could make this region even more promising.” – Said by Mr. Bandara
As the premier risk management institution, IRM helps build excellence in risk management to improve the way organizations work, with members working in many roles, in all industries and across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors across the world. IRM currently has a handful of members in SE Asia and is keen to develop relationships in the region.
Bandara, along with other global ambassadors, will act as local IRM experts to help students and professionals making a career in the risk professions including financial risk, cyber risk, crisis management and more.
Nicola Crawford, CFIRM, Chair of the IRM shared: “This is an exciting development for the IRM to be able to reach out to global members who are experts in their field and leverage their expertise in local markets. SE Asia as an economy is developing at an exponential rate and has a huge bank of talents coming out of the education system – now is as good a time as any to help develop enterprise risk management to ensure business longevity and success, particularly in the banking and insurance sectors”.

About EY Vietnam, since establishment, with four main service lines including Assurance, Tax, Transaction and Advisory Services, the firm has consistently led the market in such sectors as Banking, Insurance, Real Estate, Telecommunications, and held dominant market share for listed companies with the largest capitalization on the stock market. EY Vietnam has gained profound experience in Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services by providing proactive and reactive services to address organizations’ risks related to fraud, bribery, and corruption.
