Vietnam, 10 October 2019. Twenty-six outstanding Vietnam business leaders and organizations were honored at the recently concluded Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards (APEA) 2019, a Regional program recognizing entrepreneurial excellence. The APEA honors business leaders and organizations who have shown outstanding performance and tenacity in developing successful businesses, whilst not neglecting the social responsibilities that come with leadership. Following this mission, the theme of this year’s event was “Promoting inclusive Economic Development Through Sustainable Entrepreneurship”.

According to APEA award 2019, Mr. Gianluca Fiume, CEO of Piaggio Vietnam cum Executive Vice President Asia Pacific 2-Wheeler stands among 13 entrepreneur winners who are accolade under the Outstanding Entrepreneur Category. There are also 13 corporate winners which accolade under the Corporate Excellence Category.

Mr. Gianluca Fiume has successfully led the Piaggio Asia Pacific and Piaggio Vietnam turnaround across all parameters in over-2-year-term. The Asia Pacific region reported +9.7% volume growth for 2018 and its overall best performance with, +28.8% turnover for 1st half of 2019, according to the financial statement released by Piaggio Group by this July 2019.

One of the company's core values set by him for Asia Pacific markets incl. Piaggio Vietnam is “Pay attention to individuals”. He has created Piaggio culture which empowers people to grow, encourages individuals to express themselves and shine in their own way regardless of personalities and ages.
APEA award is the oldest business awards program in Asia and have been privileged to shine the spotlight on some of Vietnam’s exception game changers of tomorrow, whose entrepreneurial spirit in growing successful businesses have made a positive and enduring impact on their community and country. Vietnam Exemplary Entrepreneurs honored by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Hanoi 13th October 2019, VCCI (Vietnam chamber of commerce and industry) celebrated the 15th Anniversary of Vietnam Entrepreneurs' Day, 74 years of Ho Chi Minh's letter to all entrepreneurs and awarded Vietnam Entrepreneur Award 2019 for 100 exemplary entrepreneurs. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and speech at the ceremony.

Mr. Gianluca Fiume – CEO of Piaggio Vietnam cum Executive Vice President Asia Pacific 2-Wheeler was honored by VCCI among 100 exemplary Vietnam entrepreneurs of 2019, for the excellent performance of Piaggio Vietnam led by Mr. Gianluca Fiume under his leadership contributing to the economic and social development of Vietnam.

On October 13, 1945 (right after Vietnam Independence day), Ho Chi Minh sent a letter to all Vietnamese merchants nationwide emphasizing: "The government, the people and I will be dedicated to help the merchant community to develop". This letter is still considered to be the clearest evidence of Uncle Ho's message about the important role of merchants in developing the country. Experiencing ups and downs of history, in peacetime, entrepreneurship today continue to demonstrate their pioneering role. Entrepreneurs are increasingly receiving the respect of society. For the first time in Vietnamese history, the word "Entrepreneur" appeared in the 2013 Constitution.

In 2004, the late-Prime Minister Phan Van Khai signed a decision to take 13th October as Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day – the day when entrepreneurship was officially titled and honored. Exemplary Vietnamese Entrepreneur title – Thánh Gióng Cup was first organized in 2005 by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). This award is to recognize 100 exemplary Entrepreneurs nationwide according to the regulation every 03 years.

Criteria for awarding are based on the outstanding business result of the company and the personal achievements of entrepreneur who hold leadership position at the business for consecutive years.

Exemplary Entrepreneurs of Vietnam – Thánh Gióng Cup is a form of honor of the Vietnamese Business Community for leaders and executives of enterprises of all economic sectors, operating under Vietnamese law, who have exemplary achievements in all activities related to building, developing businesses, contributing to the socio-economic of the country and improving the workers’ benefits and social welfare. These exemplary entrepreneurs who have overcome difficulties to succeed, actively take advantage of opportunities to restructure and solve problems related to environmental protection, labor issues in businesses as well as content related to corporate governance.

Exemplary entrepreneurs are business leaders of all economic sectors: Chairman of the Board, General Director, Directors of Economic Groups, Corporations, State Companies, Joint Stock Companies, Limited Liability Companies, Foreign-invested enterprises and Private Enterprises registered and operating in Vietnam

To established a National Committee to set up and consider the criteria of the Exemplary Vietnamese Entrepreneur 2019, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry coordinates with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the ILO Office in Vietnam, the International Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce (ICC).

At the awarding ceremony on 13rd Oct. 2019, Mr. Vu Hong Thanh – Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee and Dr. Vu Tien Loc, President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Central Council of Vietnam Business Associations presented the Thánh Gióng Cup and Certificate to 100 Exemplary Entrepreneurs.
