The Wine & Spirits Sector Committee (W&S SC) is a prominent advocate for the largest international wine and spirits companies in Vietnam. With a mission to promote self-regulation and responsible drinking, the committee tirelessly works to ensure fair market access, sensible tax policies, resilient fight against illicit trade, and socially responsible marketing practices.
Formed with a clear vision, the W&S SC aims to foster a deeper understanding of the international wine and spirits industry among Vietnamese and European decision-makers. By securing appropriate legislative conditions, the committee strives to create an environment where international wine and spirits businesses can operate in Vietnam’s market fairly and lawfully, without facing discrimination.
Beyond advocating for favorable business conditions, the W&S SC encourages the industry to uphold high marketing standards and promote responsible drinking across Vietnam. Through identifying and sharing best practices, the committee actively collaborates with stakeholders involved in reducing the harmful use of alcohol nationwide.
The committee’s core advocacy goals for 2024 include addressing and proposing reasonable provisions on the Special Consumption Tax (SCT), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and the Law on Advertising. Throughout 2023, the W&S SC actively engaged with government bodies, submitting letters and participating in direct dialogues and workshops to advocate for suitable tax policy, provide insights on EPR implementation, and offer recommendations on advertising regulations.
As a champion of corporate social responsibility (CSR), the W&S SC remains committed to developing impactful CSR projects that contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable growth while upholding compliance with local competition laws and regulations.
