Tax & Transfer Pricing Sector Committee Chairman discusses global minimum tax at an event organized by the National Assembly’s Committee on Finance and Budget, and The World Bank

On April 24, EuroCham’s Tax & Transfer Pricing Sector Committee ChairmanThomas McClelland, attended a symposium on the global minimum tax (GMT). The event was organized jointly by the National Assembly’s Committee on Finance and Budget and The World Bank. The seminar was attended by many experts in the field, including National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai, World Bank Country Director in Vietnam Carolyn Turk, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Taxation, and Deputy Head of the Party Central Economic Commission Nguyen Duc Hien.

 

During the conference, Mr. McClelland discussed whether Vietnam should adopt the qualified domestic minimum top-up tax regime and whether new tax incentive policies should be developed to attract foreign direct investment. He also presented tax incentive reform best practices from European countries as suggestions for upcoming tax reforms in Vietnam.
