As a responsible citizen, Sanofi has made significant contributions to develop local healthcare ecosystem in full alignment with local guidelines and policies. One of our proudest achievements is the establishment of a sustainable manufacturing footprint in Vietnam, including technology transfer and labor employment for decades. Sanofi has invested up to US $75 million in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the Saigon High Tech Park in 2013 in collaboration with long-term strategic partner Vinapharm.
Throughout the years, Sanofi has continuously (i) broadened Vietnamese patients’ access to a diversified portfolio of high-quality and innovative medicines (e.g. diabetes, vaccines or rare disease), (ii) provided support to continuous medical education and scientific trainings for thousands of healthcare practitioners annually. In term of economic contribution, Sanofi has generated a direct contribution to Vietnam’s GDP of US $145 million of gross value added (GVA) which equals to 4% of the pharmaceutical industry’s GVA and employ directly more than 1,300 employees across Vietnam (production and commercial operations), and indirectly more than 10,000 jobs . During the last 3 years (2017-2019), Sanofi invested and spent up to US $300 million in Vietnam.
