10th March 2017 Named As Date for 5th Asean-Eu Business Summit

The 5th ASEAN-EU Business Summit will be held in the Philippines on 10th March 2017.  The Fifth edition of the leading business conference bringing together policymakers, business leaders and think tanks from across ASEAN and Europe, promises to be the biggest yet as 2017 marks both the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and the 40th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU dialogues.
 
Jointly organised by the EU-ABC, European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the 5th ASEAN-EU Business Summit will feature key note addresses by prominent politicians from both Southeast Asia and the EU, as well as debates and panel discussions by leading businessmen from both regions on the key business related issues of the day.

EU-ABC ESTABLISHES NEW ICT/DIGITAL ADVOCACY GROUP
 
Following the release of the ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2020 and the Masterplan for ASEAN Connectivity 2025 both of which deal with various aspects of the digital economy across ASEAN and the need for more technological connectivity in Southeast Asia, the EU-ABC has established a new Advocacy Group to look at this important sector and to work with ASEAN and its Member States in order to advance the use of technology across the region.  The Group will be led by BT Group and software innovation arm of Bosch.
 
The Group will, amongst other things, look at the regulatory frameworks covering the use of ICT and Digital, including data storage, licensing, regulation covering usage etc. as well as consumer facing elements such as using digital to increase access to finance, healthcare solutions, and e-commerce, and also use of technology to help facilitate trade across the region.
