On 11 December 2024, the Ministry of Justice hosted an Assessment Meeting on the Proposal to revise the Law on Food Safety, chaired by Deputy Minister Mrs. Dang Hoang Oanh. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), and Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).
Representing EuroCham, Advocacy Manager Mrs. Diep Truong highlighted the significant progress since the law’s implementation, including the adoption of over 2,000 standards, many of which align with international norms. Proposed revisions aim to strengthen consumer protection, support businesses, and ensure alignment with trade agreements such as the CPTPP and EVFTA. Discussions focused on improving inspection methods, clarifying management responsibilities, and balancing rigorous safety standards with manageable business costs, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing Vietnam’s food safety framework.
