Airbus and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology celebrate milestone achievement as VNREDSat-1 exceeds expectations in remarkable decade of orbital success

Vietnam’s pioneering remote sensing satellite, the VNREDSat-1, has accomplished a remarkable feat after an impressive decade in orbit. Having completed an astounding 53,000 revolutions around the Earth, covering a staggering distance of 2.4 billion kilometers, the satellite has far surpassed its initial design expectations.

Originating from a collaborative effort between EuroCham Gold Corporate Partner Airbus, a renowned multinational aerospace corporation, and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), the VNREDSat-1 represents Vietnam’s inaugural Earth observation satellite. Backed by French funding, this joint venture has proven to be a resounding success, yielding invaluable data crucial to tackling the nation’s pressing environmental and resource management challenges.

To commemorate this milestone, the VAST, in conjunction with the French Embassy in Vietnam and Airbus, organized a commemorative event. The occasion saw the presence of the French Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolas Warnery.

In a statement made during the ceremony, Hoang Tri Mai, CEO of Airbus Vietnam and EuroCham Board Member, proudly affirmed the group’s status as a key partner in Vietnam’s significant space endeavor. Furthermore, she expressed her hopes of continuing to support the nation on its future space development path.

During the ceremony, the VAST recognized Jean Michel Caldaguesmember of the EuroCham Advisory Board and former Managing Director of Airbus Vietnam, for his noteworthy contributions to this groundbreaking achievement.

We would like to congratulate the VAST, Airbus, and all the individuals involved in the remarkable journey of the VNREDSat-1. This achievement not only showcases Vietnam’s technological prowess but also exemplifies the power of international collaboration in pushing the boundaries of space exploration.
