On 15 January 2025, EuroCham Vietnam and its Human Resources & Training Sector Committee (HR&T SC) hosted a meeting with the Finnish delegation at EuroCham office in Ho Chi Minh City. The meeting welcomed representatives from both the public and private sectors of Finland to explore the topic of labour mobility, focusing on the recruitment of Vietnamese workers to Finland, recruitment strategies, and potential collaboration opportunities between the two countries.
Insights from Finland
The Finnish delegation shared insights into Finland’s recruitment needs, particularly within the healthcare, technology, and various industrial sectors, while also addressing challenges related to matching labour supply with demand.
Labour mobility from Vietnam’s standpoint
EuroCham’s HR&T SC emphasised the importance of compliance with Vietnamese regulations for sending workers abroad. These regulations include ensuring that Vietnamese workers meet all legal and social security requirements, which necessitates coordination with Finnish compliance procedures. Additionally, the committee highlighted the need for training and skills development to bridge the talent gap in both countries.
The discussion also addressed what Vietnamese employees expect when working abroad, including transparent contracts, benefits, social security contributions, and career development opportunities. Strategic partnerships, knowledge exchange, and the creation of sustainable, long-term employment opportunities for skilled workers were also key themes of the conversation.
Fostering Vietnam – Finland collaboration
Concluding the meeting, EuroCham Vietnam’s Executive Director Delphine Rousselet shared the organization’s upcoming plans for the year, outlining how EuroCham, especially through NordCham, can support the Finnish delegation by fostering opportunities for collaboration and enhancing workforce development in both Vietnam and Finland.
This meeting highlighted EuroCham’s critical role in facilitating meaningful dialogue between European and Vietnamese businesses, strengthening partnerships, and promoting mutual growth through labour mobility and talent exchange.
