Celebrating One Year of the EuroCham Construction Sector Committee

As we mark the first anniversary of the EuroCham Construction Sector Committee, established in July 2023, we reflect on a year of significant achievements.

The Construction Sector Committee has rapidly grown to include 21 active members. Our members focus on five crucial working groups: Sustainable Cities & Buildings, Firefighting, Best Practices, Standards, and Land Use. The committee’s formation contributed significantly in bridging the gap between the public and private sectors, providing expert opinions to the government on legislative and construction-related issues, and promoting sustainability within the industry.

Spotlight on Key Activities and Milestones

Over the past year, the Construction Sector Committee has achieved remarkable milestones, including:

Firefighting regulations: On January 16, 2024, Chairman Michel Cassagnes delivered a speech at the Whitebook Launch, highlighting key recommendations for the new QCVN, particularly regarding firefighting certification of materials. This engagement emphasized the committee’s role in shaping regulatory standards and strengthening public-private collaboration.

High-Level Meetings with Vietnamese government and stakeholders: On 17 January and 17 April 2024, the committee met with Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Xuan Dung and representatives from various departments within the Ministry of Construction (MOC). This meeting focused on fostering industry dialogue and addressing business challenges in Vietnam

Inaugural Tall Building Forum: On May 28, 2024, EuroCham Vietnam and the Construction Sector Committee hosted the inaugural Tall Building Forum in Ho Chi Minh City that brought together over 170 industry leaders and policymakers to mark a significant step in addressing Vietnam’s urban development challenges. 

A Heartfelt Thank You: We are immensely grateful to our board members Michel Cassagnes, King Cheng, Jessica Duverneix, and Sergio Silva for their leadership. A special thanks to all our members for their unwavering support and contributions during the past year.  We are excited to welcome Freek Jansen as our Vice Chairman for the 2024-2025 term, overseeing Events. This addition marks an exciting new chapter in our growth!

As we celebrate these achievements, we also look forward to continuing our mission of promoting stability, sustainability, and safety in the construction industry. The committee remains committed to driving positive change, fostering innovation, and strengthening the collaboration between the public and private sectors.
