On 18 June 2025, EuroCham Vietnam, its Food, Agri, and Aqua Business Sector Committee (FAABS) and CropLife Asia joined the Sustainable Solutions with US Soy! conference, organised by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USEC). The conference celebrated 30 years of U.S. Soy engagement in Vietnam.
The event welcomed distinguished guests, including:
- Deputy Minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Mr. Hoang Trung,
- Agricultural Attaché, Office of Agricultural Affairs, U.S. Consulate General, Ms. Jane Luxner, and
- Vice-Chair of VCCI, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh.
Representing EuroCham was Co-Chair of our Food, Agri & Aqua Business Sector Committee (FAABS) – Mr. Paul-Antoine Croizé. Also speaking at the event was CropLife Asia’s Executive Director – Dr. Tan Siang He.
Aligning Vietnam’s Agri-Food Sector with EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
In his speech, Mr. Croizé explained EUDR’s requirements and how they bring both opportunities and challenges to Vietnam’s agri-food sector. As the global demand for sustainable agriculture grows, Vietnam should take early actions to gain a competitive edge via:
- Enhancing Traceability & Mapping,
- Building Farmer Capacity,
- Strengthening Enterprise Due Diligence, and
- Aligning Policy and Diplomacy
Leveraging Agricultural Technology for Climate-Resilient Farming in Vietnam
Addressing challenges faced by Vietnam’s farming industry, especially by farmers, Dr. Tan highlighted how innovations such as IoT, digital farming tools, and green chemistry could:
- Address climate challenges,
- Improve crop yields, and
- Build resilient agricultural systems.
To successfully harness the benefits of farming innovations, Dr. Tan called for cross-sector collaboration, policy alignment and advocacy, along with scaling proven models.
