EuroCham Green Growth Sector Committee hosted the “Green Drinks” networking event

On  12 October, EuroCham Vietnam Green Growth Sector Committee hosted the 3rd Edition of the ‘Green Drinks Series’ at the beautiful RunAm D’Or, a historic mansion reflecting the evolving dialogue around energy supply and innovation since Vietnam’s early days of electricity

The evening brought together a diverse group, including representatives from the private sector, suppliers, advisors, and consultants, all with a shared passion for advancing Renewable Energy (RE) in Vietnam. Discussions revolved around critical topics supporting RE, the challenges we face, and potential solutions.

The vibrant atmosphere and strong turnout underscored the collective interest in this field. Many attendees left with a newfound perspective on how the GGSC can support their RE ambitions, and we were delighted to welcome new companies eager to join the Committee.

The discussions covered three key themes:

  1. **Achievements and Lessons:** We reflected on Vietnam’s progress in the journey of renewable energy and the valuable lessons learned.

  1. **Future Targets:** We explored the goals we aim to achieve and the strategies required to reach them.

  1. **Opportunities for Investment:** Vietnam is well-positioned to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to strengthen Renewable Energy generation, transmission, supply, and logistics. We discussed the potential within the private sector, including supply chain development, job creation, skills enhancement, and direct offtake of green energy.

The window of opportunity for RE in Vietnam is wide open, but we must address critical aspects such as transparent regulatory policies, timely decision-making, and clear routes to the market. Certainty regarding offtake tariffs is crucial to attract and retain investment.

The GGSC and its members are committed to providing support and guidance in this journey.

We look forward to building on these discussions in our upcoming ‘Green Drinks’ session on the 25th of October, focusing on Sustainable City – Sustainable Buildings.
