On Thursday, February 20, 2025, EuroCham’s Head of Hanoi Office cum External Relations Manager Van Nguyen attended the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Secretariat meeting in Hanoi. The meeting is chaired by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hoàng Long, to develop its 2025 Work Plan and discuss partner recommendations for JETP project implementation. Representatives from ministries, financial institutions, and corporations attended.
JETP 2025 Work Plan Implementation
Regarding General Tasks, the focus included finalizing procedures for Secretariat restructuring, issuing operational regulations, and approving a framework to evaluate and monitor JETP progress. Other tasks included reviewing and updating the Resource Mobilization Plan for submission to the Prime Minister, and enhancing communication efforts through websites, articles, reports, and other media to maximise the project’s impact.
Regarding Energy Initiatives, the plan included creating a project review criteria handbook to ensure effective resource mobilization. The plan also mentioned organising technical meetings with subgroups to cover:
- Offshore wind energy and renewable industrial hubs,
- Energy storage and pumped hydro,
- Renewable and new energy,
- Smart grids,
- Energy efficiency,
- Coal plant conversion, and
- Capacity-building and training.
Support from Financial Institutions & International Partners Group
The JTEP Secretariat meeting was followed by a second session focusing on partnership. Representatives from international partners like the EU, UK, and the International Partners Group (IPG) joined the session. Financial institutions like the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and international banks like HSBC and Citi also participated. This discussion session strengthened the international and financial partnerships for JETP project implementation.
