On 11 December 2024, EuroCham Vietnam, its Construction Sector Committee and the Saigon Construction & Building Material Association (SACA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in advancing sustainable construction practices in Vietnam. This partnership aims to foster collaborative initiatives, share expertise, and address industry challenges, supporting Vietnam’s growth and urban development.
EuroCham Vietnam’s commitment to advance sustainable construction
The event began with opening remarks from distinguished representatives. EuroCham Vietnam Vice Chairman Mr. Jean-Jacques Bouflet acknowledged the importance of the partnership between the EuroCham Vietnam, its Construction Sector Committee and SACA. He emphasised EuroCham’s role as a unified voice for the business community in Vietnam and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to advocating for sustainable practices and fostering cooperation.
Mrs. Jessica Duverneix, Vice Chairwoman of the EuroCham Construction Sector Committee, celebrated the achievements of the committee over the past year, including contributions to the Whitebook 2024 and ongoing 2025 initiatives. She highlighted the success of events like the Tall Building Forum, which attracted over 170 participants. Describing the MoU as a call to action, she highlighted the importance of creating a shared platform for advocacy and cooperation to address challenges in the construction sector.
SACA’s optimism for a strong partnership
Mr. Le Viet Hai, Chairman of SACA, expressed his gratitude and optimism for the partnership. He emphasised the transformative potential of international cooperation for Vietnam’s construction and building materials sector. Highlighting the alignment of the collaboration with global trends in sustainability and innovation, he reaffirmed SACA’s commitment to implementing the MoU’s objectives and leveraging EuroCham’s expertise to elevate Vietnam’s industry to international standards.
Mrs. Van Thi Anh Thu, Head of International Cooperation and Development Division of SACA, delivered an informative and dynamic presentation. She introduced the history, achievements, and structure of SACA, highlighting its ongoing initiatives and future plans aligned with its objectives. Additionally, she expressed a strong commitment to fostering partnerships and appreciated the collaborative efforts, emphasising the potential for fruitful cooperation in the future.
The MoU signing ceremony formalised the partnership, symbolising a joint commitment to sustainable construction practices. The signatories included Mr. Jean-Jacques Bouflet, Vice Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam, Mrs. Jessica Duverneix, Vice Chairwoman of EuroCham Construction Sector Committee, and Mr. Dinh Hong Ky, Permanent Vice President and General Secretary of SACA. EuroCham’s Executive Director Ms. Delphine Rousselet also represented EuroCham – showing our enthusiasm in the strengthened partnership.
