On 21 November, the Hanoi Customs Department organized a Customs-Business Dialogue Conference bringing together 41 business associations and companies, including EuroCham Vietnam. This fruitful dialogue aimed to bridge gaps, address concerns, and foster closer ties between the customs authority and the business community.
EuroCham highlighted our significant presence with nearly 1,400 members and 19 Sector Committees. One key emphasis was on the Transport & Logistics Sector Committee (TLSC), advocating for a collaborative meeting between TLSC and the Hanoi Customs Department, aimed at strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation.
Vice-Chairman Minh Nguyen expressed appreciation for the organizers’ transparency and underscored the substantial support provided by logistics and customs to businesses across various sectors. The European-Vietnamese Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) was applauded for its three years of impressive trade growth, emphasizing its swift and effective implementation, setting new standards for sustainable development compared to its predecessors.
Other participating companies such as Flatworld Co., LTD, HATECO Group, and Delta International raised comments around improving decree guidance, operational hour alignment, clearly defining doubt-based inspections, streamlining procedures for e-commerce and express shipments, and enhancing IT systems. Customs authorities provided perspectives in response.
Both EuroCham and the Hanoi Customs Department echoed a unified sentiment regarding the necessity for increased exchange and cooperation, underscoring a commitment to future engagements. The dialogue concluded on a promising note, with a shared dedication to addressing challenges and streamlining customs-business operations.
