On 11 July 2025, the Green Logistics Forum – Momentum Amidst Volatility took place in Hanoi, jointly organised by the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA). The event served as a lead-up to the FIATA World Congress 2025, which will be hosted in Hanoi this October.
The forum convened leaders from Vietnamese ministries, business associations, and the logistics sector, including:
- Mr. Pham Tan Cong, Chairman of VCCI
- Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director, Agency of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Industry and Trade
- Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of VLA
- Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh, Vice Chair of VLA
- Mr. Dang Vu Thanh, Vice Chairman of VLA
EuroCham Vietnam was represented by Mr. Koen Soenens, Vice-Chair of EuroCham’s Transportation & Logistics Sector Committee (TLSC) and Director of Sales & Marketing at DEEP C Industrial Zones.
Forum Highlights
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai (MOIT) addressed how global supply chain shocks are driving the need for a green transformation in the logistic sector. He also explained how green logistics can act as an “economic shield”, helping businesses withstand fluctuations in fuel and freight prices while complying with new carbon tax regulations from markets like the EU.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh (VLA) followed with remarks on trends reshaping global supply chains, emphasised the importance of green transition among enterprises, particularly in the lead-up to Vietnam hosting the FIATA World Congress 2025.
Green Logistics Actions from European Businesses
In his remarks, Mr. Koen Soenens shared practical actions by European businesses contributing to Vietnam’s green logistics transition:
- Installing solar panels on warehouse rooftops
- Piloting electric delivery fleets
- Optimising delivery routes using digital planning tools
While noting infrastructure gaps, limited incentives, and evolving infrastructure, Mr. Soenens highlighted that sustainability is not just a responsibility, it is a strategic opportunity. Beyond reducing emissions, green logistics offers a pathway to building smarter, more resilient systems. He emphasised that now is the time to deepen EU–Vietnam cooperation for a future-ready logistics sector.
As Vietnam prepares to host the FIATA World Congress 2025, the Green Logistics Forum reaffirmed the power of cross-sector collaboration in shaping a resilient, sustainable logistics ecosystem.
Advocating for Sustainability Roadmap and infrastructure development is one of EuroCham Transportation and Logistics Sector Committee’s ‘must-win battles’ (our advocacy priority) for 2025. We are committed to accompany both the government and businesses in Vietnam’s sustainable growth journey.
