In a significant development, the National Assembly has given its approval to the amended Law on Prices, resulting in the removal of “milk for the elderly” from the price stabilization list. This decision, which was reached on June 19, marks a successful outcome for the EuroCham Nutritional Foods Group (NFG) and their advocacy efforts.

The NFG had previously expressed the concern after learning that the Finance Budget Committee of the National Assembly had agreed to include “milk for the elderly” in the revised list of goods subject to price stabilization. This news emerged on May 15, just ahead of the fifth session of the National Assembly scheduled for the end of May 2023.

Responding swiftly, the NFG promptly sent an urgent letter to the National Assembly and relevant ministries, conveying their concerns and respectfully urging the removal of “milk for the elderly” from the list. The letter, its content, and the reasoning behind it are discussed in this article

More details about the approved Law on Prices can be found here.

The exclusion of “milk for the elderly” from the list of goods eligible for price stabilization serves as a testament to the NFG’s advocacy efforts and highlights the vital role of transparent communication channels between civil society organizations and legislative bodies.

To inquire about membership in the Nutritional Foods Group or obtain additional information about the organization, interested parties are encouraged to get in touch with Vy Bui, the Coordinator of the Nutritional Foods Group. Ms. Bui can be contacted via email at Vy.Bui@eurochamvn.org or reached by phone at (+84) 97 622 21 21.

By becoming a part of the NFG or reaching out for inquiries, individuals and companies have the opportunity to actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing nutrition and making meaningful contributions to the overall well-being of the Vietnamese population.
