EuroCham’s GGSC Strengthens Collaboration with Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction

EuroCham’s Green Growth Sector Committee (GGSC) recently met with Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction (MoC) on July 12. The primary objective of the gathering was to fortify the relationship between GGSC and MoC in advocating for sustainable buildings.

A pivotal topic discussed during the meeting centered around the collaboration between GGSC, Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC), and MoC. These parties evaluated the outcomes of a previous noteworthy event, “Healthy & Resilient Buildings,” jointly organized by GGSC and VGBC. Subsequently, they engaged in deliberations with MoC’s Department of Science, Technology & Environment to explore prospects for future cooperation. The core focus of this partnership will revolve around the advancement of sustainable buildings and the promotion of energy efficiency within the construction sector.

Representatives from MoC were present, including Mr. Nguyen Cong Thinh, Deputy Director, and Mr. Dinh Chinh Loi, Principal Officer of the Department. EuroCham’s presence was marked by Sérgio Pereira da Silva, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Portugal – Vietnam (CCIPV) and Vice-Chair of GGSC. Mr. Silva also leads the GGSC’s Sustainable Cities & Buildings Working Group. Joining him was Van Nguyen, Head of the EuroCham Hanoi Office, and External Relations Manager.

The outcome of the meeting was decidedly positive, with all three parties reaching a consensus to collaborate on future endeavors. The specific areas of collaboration include the formulation of a net-zero carbon roadmap, the establishment of benchmarks for sustainable buildings, and the initiation of capacity training programs.
