EuroCham Food, Agri, and Aqua Business Sector Committee (FAABS) explores sustainable aquaculture solutions at Skretting Factory in Long An

On 5  September, the EuroCham Food, Agri, and Aqua Business Sector Committee (FAABS) embarked on a visit to Skretting Factory in Long An, Vietnam. Skretting, a renowned global leader, specializes in providing innovative and sustainable nutritional solutions and services for the aquaculture industry. With production facilities spanning 18 countries across five continents, the company is dedicated to manufacturing and delivering high-quality feeds, catering to more than 60 species from hatching to harvest.

During this insightful field trip, FAABS members had the unique opportunity to delve into the operations of their esteemed partner and fellow committee member, fostering a deeper understanding of each other’s expertise and insights.

 

 

 

The visit also featured discussions on several pivotal aspects of FAABS’ ongoing activities:

  • Recap on Q1, Q2, and Q3/2023 Activities: FAABS has been actively engaging with external stakeholders through a series of meetings and interviews to share the committee’s expert perspectives. These interactions have been instrumental in furthering FAABS’ mission and outreach.
  • Exploring Whitebook Topics: Participants engaged in discussions about this year’s Whitebook topics, focusing on critical themes such as:
    • Agroecology Strategy: Deliberations centered around the proposal and insurance mechanisms aimed at encouraging farmers to embrace agroecology and organic production methods.
    • Promoting Sustainable Agriculture: The conversation revolved around ways to accelerate the transition to sustainable agriculture by advocating the usage of nature-based solutions.
    • Financing Options: The committee also explored various financing options geared towards supporting the agricultural and aquaculture sectors.
  • Future Expansion: FAABS is actively planning to expand its membership base, aiming to involve more stakeholders who are passionate about contributing to the growth and sustainability of the food, agriculture, and aquaculture industries in Vietnam.

The visit to Skretting Factory not only provided FAABS members with invaluable insights into sustainable aquaculture practices but also served as a platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing among experts in the field. FAABS remains committed to fostering sustainable practices and driving positive change within these vital sectors.
