The EuroCham Green Growth Sector Committee (GGSC) Water Working Group held an event on August 25th focused on “The Future Role of Blue-Green Infrastructure in Vietnam.” Hosted at the EuroCham HCMC office, the event brought together GGSC members and companies including Becamex, Concordia International School, Greencorp, Planetzero and Hst Systemtechnik GmbH.
The event opened with a definition of blue-green infrastructure, referring to an integrated approach to urban planning that combines natural and built elements to manage water resources. This infrastructure aims to address challenges like urbanization and climate change through ecological, social and economic benefits.
Participants shared best practices for implementing blue-green infrastructure in the Vietnamese context, drawing on examples like wetland restoration, permeable pavements, rain gardens and green roofs. The group discussed policy recommendations to promote wider adoption of blue-green infrastructure in Vietnamese cities.
The working group drafted a policy position paper on blue-green infrastructure in Vietnam. They plan to use this paper as the basis for further advocacy around this strategic sustainability approach.
